Using gifts God gave us to shine His light in our community and encouraging others to do the same.
What is the Yellow House?
The Yellow House is an old house on about an acre of land on one of the main streets in our town next door to the Post Office. We have renovated the house and land on the property specifically to be a place that friends in our community enjoy getting together.
Why does the Yellow House exist?
We want to create an environment where all people in our community feel welcome. We aim to be intentional with the relationships of those we come in contact with. We want to purposefully model a life where others can see the truth before they hear about it. This environment is not so much about our location as it is about the atmosphere created by the community of people involved.
Our goal is to model such a selfless way of living that people can't help but notice and want to participate in what they are experiencing. We aim to help others discover their true identity in Christ and encourage them to use their talents and experience the joy of serving others with those God given gifts.
We aren't desperate to convert others, but we are desperate to be like Christ and to be where Christ. We want to be transformed into the image of Christ, and to pray and work to see transformation in everyone whose lives we are blessed to come in contact with. We define our success with faithfulness, not converts, and leave the rest up to God.
Our Story
The Yellow House was purchased within a year of our non-profit organization being formed. Our ministry was birthed out of a calling to become a father to those who are spiritually fatherless. The house was purchased as a place to carry out this mission.
For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me. (1 Corinthians 4:15-16)
